Solar Telescopes allow you to view the surface of the sun. Observe the most important star of our solar system, the Sun. It’s fascinating. Your guide will take you through the life story of our Sun, show you how small it is compared to the big stars in the sky before viewing the surface and the chromosphere (where we can see the solar flares).

EXTRA INFORMATION:

  • Introduction and explanation of the only star we can view during the day - our sun
     
  • An experienced guide will explain how the sun dominates the solar system and how our sun fits into the galaxy and compares to other stars in the Milky Way
     
  • Safely view the sun through our Solar Hydrogen Alpha telescope and see sun spots, solar flares and prominences
     
  • Using your own mobile phone or camera take your own photo memento of the sun to amaze your friends and family   
     
  • No experience or prior knowledge required
     
  • Suitable for all ages – families welcome
     
  • Group, concession and family rates are available
     
  • Takes approximately one hour
     
  • Operates all year round (weather permitting) however sessions are limited and conducted as required from October to April annually.
